In the 18th century among the Russian nobility there was some kind of unspoken rule which consisted in the following: to associate a mansion fencing with the owner, the owner.

The patrimonial (family) coats of arms which testified to the status of the owner of a mansion were located on gate.

Today shod gate - classical option which is checked by time, confirming pretentious and refined taste of the owner.
